Mount Sinai Health System consolidated restricted endowment assets: $644,954,000 permanent endowment assets plus $166,830,000 accumulated restricted returns. The 2024 report adopts consolidated reporting and includes Icahn School of Medicine. Entity and reporting scope

| Fiscal period end | Endowment net assets, USD | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| 2023-12-31 | $766,220,000 | Consolidated audit |
| 2024-12-31 | $811,784,000 | Consolidated audit |
The reported endowment moved from $766,220,000 at December 31, 2023 to $811,784,000 at December 31, 2024. That is a rise of $45,564,000, or 5.95% of the earlier closing balance. This arithmetic describes the change in the reported fund size. Gifts and amounts spent can also change the balance, so the percentage is not an investment performance result. Annual balance evidence
The Form 990 uses a separate reporting boundary. Its own rolling history is shown below so the tax-filing series remains visible. A consolidated audit observation is not appended to the filer-only series as though it measured the same portfolio. Separate tax-filing history
| Fiscal period end | Filer Schedule D closing balance, USD |
|---|---|
| 2020-12-31 | $194,397,512 |
| 2021-12-31 | $281,194,048 |
| 2022-12-31 | $290,728,000 |
| 2023-12-31 | $261,040,000 |
| 2024-12-31 | $232,212,000 |
The displayed 2-date series begins at $766,220,000 on December 31, 2023 and ends at $811,784,000 on December 31, 2024. Across those observations, the closing fund balance increased by $45,564,000. The smallest reported amount is $766,220,000 at December 31, 2023; the largest is $811,784,000 at December 31, 2024. Annual balance evidence
Both observations use the audited endowment boundary stated above. The December 31, 2023 comparison retains the earlier year's amount and its own measurement date. It gives a dated starting point for reading the later balance. Annual balance evidence
The separately displayed tax-filing endowment ends at $232,212,000 for December 31, 2024, under EIN 13-1624096. That tax record remains a separate series from the selected audit. The audit's consolidation boundary and financial-statement classifications determine the headline measure; the difference is not attributed to investment performance. Tax-filing entries
The restricted endowment roll-forward reports $18,345,000 appropriated for expenditure during 2024. The system describes a 4% spending rate based on three-year average fund values. Audited endowment note
For the tax period ending December 31, 2024, Schedule D begins with $261,040,000 in endowment. It records $25,262,117 in contributions. The earnings line is a dollar accounting amount. Calculating a time-weighted return would require information about the timing of external cash flows and the portfolio's return calculation. Schedule D roll-forward
The same Schedule D reports $54,090,117 for other expenditures for facilities and programs. These retain the tax form's labels. Their dollar amounts do not establish an annual spending policy based on average portfolio values. Disclosed endowment uses
Schedule D classifies the closing endowment as board-designated or quasi-endowment 59.62%, permanent endowment 40.38%, term endowment 0%. These percentages classify the legal restrictions on endowment funds. They do not describe investments in stocks, bonds or other asset classes. Restriction categories
The Form 990 for the period ending December 31, 2024 reports $5,887,180,821 in total assets, $4,653,204,635 in total revenue, $4,538,893,967 in total expenses. These are filer-wide figures. Total assets can include property, patient receivables and operating resources outside the endowment. Revenue and expenses describe annual activity; the endowment figure is a closing stock of assets. Tax-filing financial snapshot
No community-benefit dollar amount is assigned from this filer's available Schedule H fields. A hospital foundation can support care without operating a licensed hospital itself. Endowment expenditures therefore do not automatically equal the hospital's financial assistance or its total community-benefit expense. Filer financial record
The IRS explains that organizations operating tax-exempt hospital facilities face additional requirements under Section 501(r). Those requirements concern community health needs assessments, financial assistance, limits on charges and billing and collection. The rules apply at the facility level. IRS hospital requirements

Endowments are some of the most studied investors in the world, and the numbers are scattered across financial reports, press releases and student newspapers. This site puts each endowment's figures in one place, from its own reports first, names every source, and says plainly when a number has not been published.
We run 16 in-person events a year, 4 Super Summits and 12 masterminds, in NYC, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. 300 of them over 19 years.
"The Family Office Club is unique as a community. The thing I admire about you is that you started with your family, making that a priority."

Each fact names its source and its date. When two sources disagree, we show both. When an endowment has not published a number, we say so.

Practical guides for raising from, working with and running endowments. Each one is being written now and will publish here, free.
Tell me what you are raising for. I will tell you which endowments look like a fit, and which rooms are worth being in. I read these myself.
Correct it or claim it. It is free. Send the page, the change and a public source, and we will update it and note the date.
For board members, investment committee members, donors, students and journalists. Every profile shows value, return, spending and allocation with the fiscal year and source next to each figure.
Each fact names its source and its date. We start with the institution's own financial report, investment office report and press release, then official filings, then third-party reporting. Figures are tied to a fiscal year, because most endowments report once a year. When two sources disagree, we show both. When an endowment has not published a number, we say so rather than estimate it silently.

Endowments.com is a research resource on university, college and foundation endowments. I started Family Office Club 19 years ago at 26, as my 12th startup and the first one that worked. All three of my daughters are in the business with me now. My father raised $1 billion for non-profits before I ever started, so I grew up watching this.
Since then: 300+ in-person events, 1,500 investors on stage, 250+ family offices created or formalized, 46 transactions off my own balance sheet, and CIO of a $180M single family office.
I am not a broker. I am not a bank. I do not charge for anything on this site. I built it because endowment figures are spread across hundreds of reports and press releases, and few places put them side by side with sources.
